Isis

sorenbarrett

The moon with soft tidal hands pulls a watery blanket over sleeping shores
An undulating navy satin bedcover sports a lunar sent ribbon silver sequins by the scores
Soft maternal breezes hum a tropical lullaby to sleeping sands on beaches
A warm nights breast gives rest as a dreaming mind expands out of reaches
Oh jewel bedazzled sky where wishes are made on shooting stars
Let romance fill the night and in naked light love of Venus seduces hate of Mars

A blend of mythology into a meditation on imagination and love. I like the personification of the moon in the first line: β€œThe moon with soft tidal hands pulls a watery blanket over sleeping shores”.

It has been said that a man cannot enter a river twice : by the second time, it is not the same man and it is not the same river... This ties back to the ideas in the poem : when you look again, the vision will never be quite the same again...

Soren, what I enjoyed most here is the way the natural world becomes almost mythic. The moon, the sea, the breeze, the stars, Venus, and Mars all play their part in a nocturnal symphony of romance and possibility. The imagery is rich without feeling overworked, and the closing contrast between love and conflict provides a fitting culmination. Beautifully crafted, my friend. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

'Dreaming mind expands out of reach'. So true.
Isn't Mars the God of War? So Hopefully Venus will sort him out. I liked this. A good Write.

Thanks so much for the read and comment yes Mars is the god of war and indeed as such a perfect object to be seduced by the goddess of love
