Temporal and Eternal

Tune: Melcombe

('New every morning is the love')

Psalm 103 v13-18

*********

Like as a father pities his

Children, so the Lord, true is this

Pities them that fear Him, for He

Knows our frame, and that dust we be

He remembers this, for He made

Human constitution displayed

As for mankind, their days are grass

Here for a short while, then they pass

As flowers of field they flourish

And daily food does them nourish

Then wind passes over, and blows

Here man no permanent place knows

Gone, forgotten, remembered not

But the Lord, He a steadfast lot

His mercy is from e'erlasting

To e'erlasting, strength He does bring

His mercy to them that Him fear

And His righteousness to them near

Even to children's children, they

Keep His covenant, Him obeys

well written. Your poem centers on God's compassion and mercy toward humanity, emphasizing His understanding of human frailty and life's transience.

Orchi, I genuinely enjoyed this. It carries the tenderness and reassurance of Psalm 103 with the kind of steady meter that invites people to sing rather than simply read. That's one of the things I've always appreciated about your hymn settings.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I hear Popeyeus Glug Maximus Solus and Oi Be are convening the First Council of Melcombe to determine whether the choir robes should henceforth include ceremonial yams. I fear history is about to be rewritten...again. 😂 Always a pleasure, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Thank you T. Yes, it's amazing how Popeye & Co have shaped church history, and of course an emphasis on green - spinach. lol.
