Summer Paltry

arqios

The shadow stalls upon the sundial stone,
and afternoon spills sideways, unowned.
Blessed be this midsummer air,
where cicada drone replaces hurry,
asking nothing of hands or mind.

The grass grows tall beneath our stillness;
and heat ripples like a slow breath.
We are not a sum of tasks completed,
but a river wandering without destination.
Praise be to the sun’s unhurried arc,
and the holy grace of standing still.

There is something magnificent about this poetic write that seems to stand between rhyme and free style with dignity and grace of nature and tell it as it is. Nature itself is so poetic. A fave my friend

There is a teetering between that feels 'natural' and unforced which is pleasant to have come across in your reading of it. Many thanks dear friend๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Good write A. Grass bit parched here. Need rain, whether we like it or not!

        • arqios

Thatโ€™s quite dry, I was led to believe that annual rainfall is quite high your way. Sounds like global drying.

It's being sunny, though now some are moaning it's too hot. Doh! They'll moan if it rains too.

Well, not all the UK is dry and sunny though. I'm in a dry and sunny part - for now!

Arqios, what a beautiful and deeply peaceful poem! This feels like permission to simply exist without earning the right through productivity. Absolutely loved this, my friend! ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ›

Reminds me of the admonition to live conservatively, moderately and in quiet contentment. Thatโ€™s what Nana used to always told us.

This is like a Continuation of your last Poem on finding Peace. Nice one.

Thanks, Kevin, I appreciate you picking up the thread from world on mute. That one came from a quieter place, and this piece probably carries a bit of that same ease forward. Glad it read that way to you. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ™
