As Long As Sonnet.

Goldfinch60

As long as memories light yesterday,

Its gentle echoes keep the past alive;

As long as hope can lift the heart and say

That brighter roads beyond the dusk survive;

As long as love can warm the present hour,

Today unfolds in beauty, calm and bright;

The smallest kindness opens like a flower,

And turns the ordinary world to light.

Then let the years behind us softly gleam,

And let the dawn ahead remain in view;

For every cherished thought, and every dream,

Can make the fleeting moment feel anew.

With memory, hope, and love our hearts are one:

Yesterday held, tomorrow’s begun.
