paradise

lunarchloedip

once a paradise
a perfect place
for perfect eyes
but peace
did not stay late
it seems our fate
had always been
to lust after gain
a brother was slain
the first taste of pain
sweet juice of an apple
bitten in vain

we have not changed.
blow out our own brains
keep women in cages
burn down our own places
in unprovoked rages
tear out poet’s pages
find love too enraging

they are
enticed by lies
devils disguised
fucking fantasise
of taking children’s lives

the root of their greed
a penny for their pocket
they’ll take all you have
and insist you’ve still got it
they’ll wring you dry
and demand you give more
then use the loose change
to fund a world war

send good men to fight
while they kick up their feet
what are a few bodies
when victory is sweet?
turn the gun on yourself
no one will help
call you a coward
watch as you melt

i am
tired
of screaming
hopelessly dreaming
of an end to this feeling
i will not turn cold
no matter the strain
run to my page
until i go insane

if violence is normal
perhaps insanity is best
if madness involves
holding love in your chest
then let us go mad
let us riot it out
let us love so much
we forget how to shout

let us try to be kind
let us forget money
let us feed each other
remain soft, funny

i want to be
soft

i want to be soft
i want to be soft.
