“an unhurried hour”
The shadow stalls upon the sundial stone,
and afternoon spills sideways, unowned.
Blessed be this midsummer air,
where the cicada’s pulse replaces hurry,
asking nothing of the hands or mind.
The grass grows tall beneath our stillness;
the heat ripples like a slow breath.
We are not a sum of tasks completed,
but a river meandering without destination.
Praise be to the sun’s unhurried arc,
and the holy grail of standing still.

Nice write
Thank you dear Friendship ππ»ποΈ
There is a lazy summer feel to this poem my friend. The first two lines captured me. It leaves me with a warm feeling where time means nothing and just experiencing and being is enough. A fave
More and more, that seems to be enough! Most appreciative dear friend ππ»ποΈ
I feel you my friend you are most welcome
Good write A. I hurried the hour, but it was still 60 minutes! lol.
There is wisdom in that there comment O! ππ»ποΈ
Aww, why they say to me 'Since when did you have any wisdom?' lol. Yep, the hour never went any faster or slower than 60 minutes! You spent that extra second we had one year? Let's not spend it all at once! lol.
This is like the sentiments in 'Leisure' by WH Davies.
Well Said.
There is a timeless pulse to reminding us to slow the pace, as Davies has. I'm glad this midsummer pause echoed somewhat this essential counterweight to the pulse of everything else that surrounds us. Most appreciated dear Kevin ππ»ποΈ
It did. My Pleasure.
What a lovely poem, arqios. Thereβs such peace in letting the world carry on without demanding anything from yourselfβ¦and you make that kind of rest feel almost sacramental. Absolutely loved this, my friend. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
Your much appreciated words mean a lot to me. I'm glad the quiet in this little hour feels like a kind of rest. Perhaps those little moments where we let the world move on without us in itself its own small blessing. ππ»ποΈ
Each day is so special Rik, enjoy every one of them.
Andy
Muchly agreed dear Andy ππ»ποΈ
