I have not had a solid stool in a month or more, cancer rages through the blood and sore
Hair falls like cut shafts of wheat, open draining wounds festering to reveal raw meat
Yet calm breezes blow over the mind on green fields of sprouting love I find
Cool snows of peace, melting glaciers, frozen treasures flow in rivulets of release

a no nonsense write my friend, much enjoyed
Thank you Norman I appreciate your review and kind response
most welcome friend
the state of the body reads like a metaphoric inversion of the state of mind. It could most possibly that the body is symbolic of suffering and the mind is the true condition hence the self is not where suffering occurs, but where renewal continues and lives on. 🙏🕊️
Thank you my friend the brain is where pain is felt. nosensation the neural responses at the point of injury transmit impulses to the brain that translates it as pain so in this sense you are right
Perhaps it is the brain that is hurting us as it interprets what it deems as danger to our body and its parts. Who knows?
A very clever piece of optimism in the state of harsh reality. The mind has the amazing ability to adapt and survive.Enjoyable to read
Thank you David for your read and understanding comment of support
The imagery you painted for me is of physical decay, which contrasts sharply with the serene mental landscapes, suggesting that even in dire circumstances, one can find solace and beauty.
Thank you Friendship glad you caught the dichotomy of this piece. You are correct the mind can overcome all
Good write SB but I feel woozy at the first two lines. A horrific disease to have. Yet finding peace, pleasantness, etc in the last two lines.
Thank you Orchi yes the body can rot but the mind stay sound. It is most appreciate my friend
Soren, this really moved me. The body is under siege, but the spirit refuses to surrender its sanctuary...a devastating reminder that illness never possesses the whole person. One hell of a powerful poem, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you Tristan for your read and kind words of understanding. The mind is the last bastion of retreat
There's a realisation here that the end is soon, but also an acceptence of the situation.
The mind is moving into peace mode, and hopefully the end is a good one.
Thank you Paul for your read and comment. Yes acceptance is a great part of the whole state of mind that allows one to block out the bad. Your words are most appreciated my friend
A fine Poem on the Contrast of Mind and Body.

Positive state of mind is the perfect balm for cancer patients. I know, because I have been there. Well done.
