I'll grow wings

ꜱʏʟᴠᴀ

One day

I'll grow wings

and I'll fly away

far away

And you'll never see me again

You'll look for me

In a diary

where tears smudge ink

And you'll start to think

you never knew me

But I was always here

Before your eyes

I cried every night

and you never realized

I understood when I was twelve

That I couldn't grow up to be myself

So I tried to be what I'm not

And I started to lose myself a lot

They say, ‘Stop this self pity,

Have you no shame?’

You're always so gloomy,

And you always stay the same

And I kind of agree,

maybe the problem is me

maybe it wasn't all that deep

maybe there’s no need to weep

But deep in the night

you'll never know how I cried

Cause i hate the way that

 i look through your eyes

Though I joke it off

And act that I didn't hear

I can't pretend

that I didn't care

and I don't know where I belong

and I don't know where i went wrong

And I'm craving for a sign

To tell me that it'll all be fine

So I pray to God at night

I pray He'll end this fight

I crave He'll make me alright

I yearn He'd set me right

And I pray,

One day,

I'll grow wings

and I'll fly away

far away

Never to be seen again.

There's a yearning in this write, a wanting to be validated but the message seems to be lost.
You can see why kids turn out bonkers, when just a few minutes of time can change the thought pattern and even the life of a child.
    Great write.

Sylva, this hit me hard. I know what it is to feel trapped within other people’s expectations…and the longing to escape rather than endure another day unseen is devastating. You convey that pain with profound honesty, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️

Sad when feels that they are not accepted for who they are. A sad poem of flight.
