The only thing I know

Poetic Dan

This is the harshest truth that I live with

She wanted another child that we created

It is her body so I just smiled in acceptance

Yet deep down I'm exhausted from existence

Now I've got an appointment with the doctor

As life in my brain has become unbearable

Every day I wake up in the same scenario

Battling through a world I am accountable for

As the lady I adore washes away from my shore

With nothing she can do as I sit in my storm

Fourth child as a silhouette haunting my halls

How can something so beautiful feel so wrong

A lifetime of scribbles through trauma given and made

With so many demons put to rest in my lane

Yet the longer the journey the more I must slay

So I write these words with the energy and frequency to survive another day

Apologies to those I hurt with every breath that I take

Never to be enough or give the amount payable to stay

Each step taken was one that wanted to be brave

The ink remembers what we forgot but never the stage that we played

Painting pictures of the future as the past just fades away.

  • Comment from author about the poem: OK. It's morning and I have written something fresh but from the depth of my soul! This is my therapy and the only thing I know....... ooooo I like that and may use it. I came here over 10 years ago because poetry can bring some comfort but connections being the rest. A huge difference between solitude and isolation

This has all the feeling of a sad write despite it being therapeutic. It feels distant and has a tinge of finality to it. There is love in it but a coldness as well. It speaks as if from the shadows. Well written

I feel it a privileged pleasure my friend

Dan, this really hit me hard. The conflict between profound love and complete emotional depletion is painfully honest, and you refuse to make either feeling less complicated than it is. Putting this into words took courage. I’m relieved you are seeking professional help...please keep reaching outward, my friend. Powerful write. šŸŒ¹šŸ–¤šŸ™šŸ•ÆļøšŸ¦ā€ā¬›

From the beating me and my mother took this was not courage to me but I truly appreciate your words. Due to my line of work I can find therapist very difficult to connect and why dogs are so easy. Psychology and philosophy have been my every breath for the last 14years! I\'ve found forgiveness but I don\'t forget I know this will pass and I have no clue what will be left. Yet as you have said this is not a complication to solve but an emotional wave that will take as long as it needs to till I feel whole.... wow... thank you for that reflection and the gift of your soulful attention 😊 much peace and respect šŸ™ 🫔

          I have similar experiences Dan
          So feel this
Always think you are a bit harsh on yourself, but only you can be
The hope I get from this is the line
"With so many demons put to rest 8n my lane"
          Magic

I'm my biggest fan and worse critic you're right I hold myself accordingly but each time I get on the motorbike it's just fades away! Years to come I'll look back and wish I'd done more or been more but hopefully still be here to even have a view. Truly appreciate your time to read my truths.
Take care my friend and a fabulous day
