Weaving

sorenbarrett

With strands of yesterday, selected colors weave a new garment
Short and long threads of the past are interlaced into today's robe
Some in tweed of varying colors, twill, satin with plaid and paisley patterns
Threads of broken dreams woven from fragments of stretched memories, form a cloak for the eye
Reality tied in knots hidden on the back side of today's rough cloth
Here irritation is felt but not seen, the itch of memory's wool hidden
Occasionally noticed in scratches and under breath mutters
From scraps a suit of the past is formed

A beautiful and thought-provoking poem. The weaving metaphor vividly captures how our past becomes part of who we are today. I was especially struck by the image of the hidden knots and the "itch of memory's wool," a powerful reminder that unresolved experiences continue to shape us in quiet, often unseen ways. The closing line leaves a lasting impression, suggesting that we all wear a garment woven from the fragments of our past, whether we realize it or not.

Something lost, but found years later stirring memories, good or bad.
I suppose we really are what we collect in our younger years.
Quite thought provoking this write, takes you to the cellar and the attic.

I suppose we are all the Sum of our Past .
It makes us the Person we are today.
                    A good Discriptive Write.

Soren, what a beautifully woven piece. The garment becomes more than clothing…it becomes memory itself, stitched together from joy, loss, and everything in between. Those hidden knots and the lingering itch make the metaphor feel especially human. Excellent write, my friend. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

Hi Sorenbarret, this is a very clever piece. It reminds me of a work place slogan (I mean this a compliment really, even though I detest work place slogans. I hope you get what I mean) "Don't let your yesterday ruin today!"

                            Excellent writing as always πŸ‘
