I leave the bridge and wander along the path by the River,
The River, flowing quietly and serenely in time with my steps,
My thoughts meander to times long past;
To those days of walking by other waters.
Those childhood days where the only worry
Was whether my friends will be there to play.
The three of us, running, not walking, on the
Green clad ground, yelling, laughing, always happy.
The time of young love where a walk together
Meant so much, the river ignored, just looking
At each other, as if it was the most precious time of all,
The time that we wished would forever stop at that moment.
The step that brought me to that one true love
Who would walk with me for the rest of my life.
No doubts entered my mind, a soul mate,
Friend, lover, to always be with me, on the long trek through time.
Suddenly I realise that I may walk alone;
The River still flowing in time with my steps,
But on my own again until I come to the bridge
Where I walk across the River, to another place.

Not walking alone too soon, I hope. Here's a thing, not a bridge but a lock leading to/from a weir. If lock gate is open, we have to wait until it closes before we can continue the journey further or make a huge detour. Maybe that links in here with your fine poem.
Me again - sometimes I may stop in my tracks, along a river or wherever, deep in thought, not really 'seeing' anything for a few moments. One may say to me 'Why ya standing still there; are ya OK?!' I could reply 'I'm waiting for a No.7 bus. lol.
Keep walking along that river Orchi.
This poem reminded me of a song by Herbert Groenemeyer "Der Veg" you may be aware of it if not it is worth listening to my friend but you will need to put on the English subtitles if you don't speak German do the live performance it has the subtitles.
I will give it a listen soren, thankyou.
Andy
