We try to seize freedom like we reach for the sky
It washes over us like a storm but leaves us dry
Illusive as a fish in a clear stream
Reaching for it one only grabs a dream
Love is made of a bar of gold
You may only hold it if a child or old
Others try to buy or sell it I'm told
But its sister Passion is the one that can be sold

Most things have a price my friend
Thanks so much for the read and comment it is deeply appreciated. Unfortunately it seems that the price now days is not one of purchase but only a lease.
so true , always welcome
Hi Sorenbarret, yes I agree with this clever write. Passion can indeed be sold but love cannot.

Some things we strive and gravitate towards but cannot own, ultimately tendered by the currency of passion. And that seems what we daily trade in πποΈ

Often, we mistake desire for love, though there are as many kinds of love as there are boundless hearts.
A thought-provoking poem, especially in an age where everything is monetized and bartered...
Thank you Carlos so much for the read and comment it is most appreciated my friend
What price is passion if love ebbs away.
What price is freedom if you open your mouth to loud.
What you think you have, in reality you don't.
A comment as poetic as any poem. Thanks so much for the read and support my friend

Thank you Peto for your read and encouragement it means a lot
Fine Poem on Freedom and Love.
Last Stanza reminds me of that great Cole Porter Song: 'Love for Sale'. The Manhattan Transfer did a fine Rendition. A fave.
Thank you so much Kevin for your review and most kind words they are appreciated
Soren, this really made me stop and thinkβ¦I like how you contrast freedom and love with the ways people try to possess them. Thereβs a quiet philosophical thread running through both stanzas that lingers after the read. Beautiful work, my friend. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
