The Cat sat on the Mat.
Caught a glimpse of a mouse
running through the house.
Leapt up and darted halfway
across the room; only to
slam into the bristles
of a large sweeping broom.
Fell back, looking stunned as
if caught by surprise; then
returned to the mat with a
heavy sigh.
Not getting up from my perch
ever again. My owner will just have
to get used to my mousy friends.
Curled up in a ball, the cat
set out to sleep; turning a blind
eye to all that creeps.

- Comment from author about the poem: First attempt at writing again in "a long time" but posting my previous work here and reading the poetry on this site has got me "going again" so will attempt more serious poetry in the future. This is more like an exercise to get my story telling/rhyming back on track and having fun with it.

Love the title that I doubt very much applies. A fanciful read that may well be metaphoric. Nicely done
Yes, if at first you don't succeed, chuck it.
Play the long game, don't disturb a cat nap.
Good return to writing Micheal
Also love the dark side of the moon
