This big milestone is approaching…
I feel like I should be
filled with inspiration to write,
but I’m not.
I’m staying on top of tasks
not letting a single thing slip by,
in terms of graduate school that is,
I guess.
But the small everyday needs
that help release
anxiety and stress
seem to be falling by the wayside.
I guess I don’t really have any need for it.
I listen to my mind…
and it does not appear to be screaming.
No alarm bells of inspiration
urging me to write.
Huh. Weird…
Maybe, I’m just experiencing
mental hypothermia.
Slowly freezing to death
without realizing it
because I’m still so wrapped up
in the excitement of starting graduate school.
Then I’ll realize
my mind has really been on fire
the whole time.

Inspired or not you are still writing good poetry and have been for a while now
Last verse in particular is dynamite
Good to see you
Stream of consciousness 🙂 you never know where you’ll end up.
Keep em coming
Both excitement and ambivalance at a time of transition.
Now I know, having consulted a fount of all wisdom what a Graduate School is on that side of the Pacific, I suspect it will take much out of you in terms of finance research and effort.
I wish you well. Don't forget a few lines occasionally here to mark your forward strides, will you?
I’ll make sure to keep the gates of inspiration open.
Anticipation comes through in this poem where focus takes one's mind to another place and prevents old habits. Nicely done
