THE LAPPING OF THE WAVES

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

The clouded sky
It hid the rainbow
Joined by strings
To his heart
The gentle waves
That slowly lapped
By the pier
Tore him apart.

His weary gaze
Forgave the splashing
Of seabirds dive
Close by
Inside a heart
To pine
Outside eyes
Which wouldnt cry.

The thought
Wasnt new my friend
Its a long
And lonely path
Walked by many
Before him
When suicide
Threw its cap.

The sea it seemed
To call his name
A watery bed
To lay his head
But something tugged
At his thoughts
Better miserable
Than dead.

Norman this one began and built crashed upon the shore and withdrew leaving a backwash of feeling in its wake. Well written and a fave

Wow, Norman...what a powerful piece. You take us right to that terrible edge without offering some tidy transformation at the end. The pain remains, but so does he...and sometimes that is victory enough. Really moved by this, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
