"Bekkevoort, 1995"
as a child once to a favoured toy
countless hours of pristine joy
but specifications of 'growed up' ploy
memories of past pleasures now destroy
.
Als kind kon ik urenlang opgaan in het spel met een geliefd stuk speelgoed. Maar zodra het ‘volwassen moeten’ zich meldde, werd dat vroege plezier weggerationaliseerd.

How true for many that convert to the idea that there is no time for pleasure as an adult as opposed to those that never grow up and expect nothing but pleasure. Somewhere in the middle is healthy ground. A good write my friend
And to stay so centred is quite the tightrope act! Thanks, Soren ๐๐ป๐๏ธ
My pleasure Cryptic
Thereโs a damn bittersweet ache here, because something once tied to โpristine joyโ has become almost unreachable under the weight of growing up and everything that comes with it. The final line is the keeper, because the memories themselves become the thing that hurts, turning childhood pleasure into a quiet reminder of what canโt be recovered.
Seen quite a few of these cases floating around. And indeed, they are bittersweet and hurtful for those involved. ๐๐ป๐๏ธ
much enjoyed
Bit of french there too?! lol. Als kind kon......
You are a very good writer I like the way you link things from past to present and how things magnanimous can destroy
Your footnote say's it all .. such a shame .. the reality of it .. not the bottom line so to speak & in more ways than one .. Neville
The Innocence of those Childhood days .
Never Recaptured in Adulthood.
When younger I remember watching an Australian TV Programme called 'The Magic Boomerang'. Fond memories. Just thought I'd mention it.
Rewatching episode one now. That cousin-Harvey just stirred a hornet's nest in my attic! ๐๐ป๐๏ธ
I'm more eccentric than I thought...
Never more pure, our oddities are not to embarrass us but give us the depth and texture of character that are lost to those shallow, surface readers. ๐๐๐ป
Fine words Rik but we can still find pleasure in our lives from memories passed.
