Sometimes; there’s no finer thing
being amongst the maize,
a place; that is cared for,
nature’s loving ways,
the ivy’s cut; thus; trees can grow,
to be so very strong,
their silent bloom; a laugh at us
when we act so wrong,
hence; I like to sit; and gaze; to
them; the old green masters,
toasting, with some fruit of theirs,
away from business blasters,
for the wine; has come from them,
I sip, with heartfelt thanks,
with their roots; caressing bumps,
some seats; by river banks,
modern era’s garish,
makes this; a healing gift,
a fellow man; could let me down
so; open field’s; a lift,
therefore; in conclusion, to
escape such foolish bark, I
step in tow; with bottle bag; and
drink; some wine; in park.

- Comment from author about the poem: Here's another "mellow" one, thus, another break from my "oblique observations" and "rancid report cards" on our species. To escape the hustle and bustle of humanity, there's nothing more, I like to do, than to take a bottle of wine to a nearby public park, find a quiet corner, and just sit and be, and be at one, and in awe, of nature. In Newark, Nottinghamshire, where I live, I am lucky to have a fair few public parks to choose from, my two favourites are: the Queen's Sconce, an old site where the English Civil War was fought, and the Riverside Park, opposite the castle, the river Trent, and where King John died. It is a much needed spiritual boost for me, in a modern era, that is anything but spiritual! I hope that you enjoy this poetic ramble, sit down and libation, I hope that you have something similar to do to revitalise your soul, and as always, please do stay safe in the madness everyone!
