Fused bulbs

NafisaSB

There are many fused bulbs

Basking in past glory

They  come – one and all

And oft repeat their story

They fail to remember

Their time has now gone

And the spotlight’s now moved on,

That once over them, had shone

They constantly keep harping

And claiming they were the best

And how they had easily overtaken

And overcome all the rest

How does one convince them

They are no longer in the race ?

Their claim to fame is over

They should surrender with grace !

Their names may still live on

And adorn the walls of fame

But now they are a “has been’

And are definitely out of the game.

Advice: Do not attempt to disillusion , walk around and move on. Be thankful they've revealed themselves to you in such an open way.
I'm pretty sure most folks are deluded one way or another - even me.!
    Neat piece of verse though.

Thanks for the advice- I am glad that they strutted so confidently in our society that they deluded very few- most saw through them and ignored them πŸ˜±πŸ˜›πŸ˜‚
Yes a few do manage to pull the wool across our eyes though

A wonderful metaphor in this piece. Nicely rhymed and with good meter and flow. Very nicely done with a good message. I have some old bulbs that still shine bright though.

Thanks we have a few old ones atill shining bright because of their current status and image caused by their actions as well as a few fused ones who gave rise to this pi ce of verseπŸ˜›πŸ™πŸΌ

          My pleasure

My friend, what a sharp and honest piece! There is something deeply sad about people becoming so committed to former importance that they cannot recognize the present. Legacy deserves respect, but grace requires knowing when to step aside. You delivered this brilliantly. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

glad it resonated with you..there are many such here around me, as also some humble souls who do not reveal their achievements...so saluting the laater, and trying to keep distance from the fused ones...
have a good week ahead...hope to see lots of contributions from your side..
