BUT GENTLY I WAIT TO SAY GOODBYE

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

The leaves
They moved but gently
As if wishes
Caught in flight
The sunshine danced
With nimble feet
In the graveyards
Moving light.

The benches each
Sport name plaques
In remembrance of
Those passed
As I sit in silence
Contemplating
The last of life
Thats left.

Its tranquil
In the quietness
The grass it waves
As if goodbye
The flight of birds
So distant
Circling high
Up in the sky.

There is definitely a feel of departure in this poem a sense of death and moving on. It is melancholic and a bit somber if not sad. Well written my friend

The meter and flow are fantastic
My first read was all about enjoying the tune I heard from these verses
Went back to the words and was blown away
    Fantastic writing

The natural world continuing around this deeply human contemplation gives the piece tremendous peace, Norman. Life and death occupy the same sacred space without struggling against one another. Wonderfully written, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
