Favourite Cup

Jabberwocky

Today I broke my favourite cup
I'd had it many years.
It lasted longer than my wife
And never caused me tears.
It was always there for me
Morning, noon, and night.
To warm me winter mornings
And fill me with delight.

It does not seem quite proper
To put it in the bin.
For things we have once loved
Such fate seems like a sin.
I'll wash it then quite carefully
And put it on my shelf.
Unlike my ex unfortunately
Who jumped in the bin herself.
