Inner Truth.
I love you now like I loved you before.
My heart hasn’t changed. It’s still empty and poor.
It needs your love to raise it to its fullest.
I need it to beat at its fastest.
I want your excitement to excite my love.
I need a commitment that you are not just looking for fun.
I have to know you won’t walk out the door.
I’m looking for a lover who will be mine forever more.
You walked away because I didn’t say I love you earlier.
That’s ok, I never expected anything other,
Than breaking my heart with your hammer of silence.
I’ve had it all my life, that’s why hope for me is pointless.
Yet still I love you today just like all others.
I’ll love you tomorrow even if we never become lovers.
I’ll dream of you and wake up happy.
Then I will come crashing back down to reality.
So go forever and never return.
I’m an old man now and I’ll never learn.
If I can’t tell you to your face that I want to be with you,
Then I can’t tell anyone ever,
My inner truth.
