Remember Respect.

Goldfinch60

In my younger days respect was there,

It was within your mind

And wasn’t something you had to teach.

You said please when asking,

And thank you when you received things.

You listened when an adult spoke,

Held the door open for all,

Gave up your seat for elders.

Mum and dad didn’t need a program,

A program to teach it,

It was a way of life that was there

And those simple things stayed,

Stayed with you for life

As they have for me,

And people of my generation.

I wonder what happened to respect

In the new generations nowadays.
