Angry River Song
Just look at me
the mountain cried ..
I’m ten times
more high than that
old river is wide ..
Yes that much is true
and while I have
nothing to hide I just
ebb and I flow
and I rise and fall with
each new tide ..
Well that’s what I’m
led to believe,
the angry river replied ..
Still can you see
how the moon reflects
on the bruised
and broken windows
of both your ego
and your soul and just
how seriously
she does shine so much
brighter now
against your anaemic,
once swollen
snowcapped temples
and all of your
slowly eroding peaks ..
Those that are
now being swept clean
away by all my
very hungry tributaries ..
Each one of them
purposely designed to
gently break
your will and to test
your ruthless
and still rugged integrity ..

A strong poem, well written. Your poem contrasts the mountain's permanence and grandeur with the river's fluidity and dynamism, suggesting that pride and ego can be challenged and diminished by nature's relentless forces.
