Lost For Words.
I left these words for you to read tomorrow.
Words for you from further down the track.
Words to take away your heartache and your sorrow.
Words to say I won’t be coming back.
I don’t know why I didn’t get to mention.
The words I kept all bottled up inside.
I couldn’t seem to bring to your attention.
Afraid to risk my ego, protect my precious pride.
I wanted to avoid a situation.
Where I would feel embarrassed or exposed.
Perhaps I have ideas above my station?
Why I couldn’t tell you, heaven only knows.
Instead, I sort of hinted and suggested.
Refused to pin my colours to the mast.
To show I was committed or invested.
The chance had gone, a fleeting moment past.
Maybe I’m too hung up on expression.
Explaining every action, thought or deed.
Defining and reminding us our love like a confession.
It screams from every fleeting glance there really is no need.
To capture it, confine it like a cage is to a bird.
Our love is understated freedom.
Our love cannot be formalised or captured within words.
