Seize the Day

soheil khodaparasti

Seize the Day

If you would

seize the day,

you must

plunder time,

split open

the heart of

hours,

dismember

the minutes,

and silence

the seconds.

Wrest a

lifetime,

tooth and

claw,

from beneath

the sting of

the clock

hands,

heedless

of the times

and

their timefolk,

take your

spoils

and

scatter them

among

your moments.

A strong write my friend. There is a call to the army to enter the fortress of time and pillage it, take all of worth and leave nothing. Most powerful.

Thank you, my friend. I love the way you describe it—as an army entering the fortress of time to claim every treasure it holds. Perhaps that is the call: to seize every moment of worth before the gates close, and to leave no precious fragment of life unexplored. Your words beautifully capture the spirit of the poem.

You are very welcome Soheil. To suck every bit of marrow from the bone, leaving the worthless behind and filling oneself on all that is useful, tasting and enjoying all that is of worth.

But still the clock is ticking.
