A Thousand Dreams

Ezekiel Olayemi

A thousand ideas, a million dreams,

All passing through my mind.

So many roads I want to take,

Yet somehow, I am lost inside.

I keep chasing,

But I don't know what I'm chasing.

I keep running toward something,

But every step still feels empty.

My soul hurts.

My mind feels broken.

Life feels heavier than I can explain,

And sadness lives in me

Without a reason I can name.

I don't know my purpose.

I don't know which dream is mine.

A thousand voices call my name,

But I don't know which one to follow.

And sometimes,

The weight becomes too much.

Sometimes I feel like ending it all,

Like disappearing from this life

Without hurting the people

Who still look up to me.

A thousand ideas.

A million dreams.

Yet here I am,

Still searching for one reason

To stay.

This poem seems to ask a question that I have asked from the other end why leave not why stay. The same rope just two different ends. Nicely written.
