What No Longer Fits
Children
grow taller.
Adults
grow old.
Spring and summer
give way
to autumn and winter.
And no longer
do they fit
inside the frame
of old photographs.
The fault
is ours—
for it is the old frame
that has been etched
into our minds.

A lovely write Soheil the poem itself a growth from a seed has outgrown its frame. It is interesting to me that those photos no matter how expansive the lens are only a small fraction of the reality that surrounds them. Reality outgrows the picture. So it is with us and all of life. Change the only constant and in it we return as the ouroboros to where we began.
Thank you, my friend, for such a thoughtful reading. I am especially touched by your observation that reality outgrows the picture, and by your image of the ouroboros and the continual cycle of change. There is something wonderfully fitting in that idea. Perhaps that is also what happened between "Framed" and "What No Longer Fits." Your poem planted the initial thought, and in the process of reflecting on it, that thought grew into something of its own. It seems fitting, then, that a poem about what lies beyond the frame should itself have grown beyond the frame of another poem. One poem gives rise to another, and the conversation continues beyond the boundaries of either.
It is most flattering that an idea I had can be taken and expanded upon by someone else. I borrow ideas all the time from others and adding one's own seasoning makes them an entirely new recipe. I am so glade to have such a relationship with you my friend.
That is beautifully expressed, my friend. I feel much the same way. I treasure that relationship very much.
Excellent work.
Thank you very much my friend.
