It Never Stops Does it?

Alex Arnot

How you consign yourselves to wither away,

Sustained by that which consumes you back.

Reaching out for your next dose of Death

Ever closer to shaking his hand!

The taste, so sweet of every morsel.

Each bite numbs a stagnant pain.

Disregard all helping hands!

Those familiar feed you poison.

Pride initiates your folly.

Compelled like Sisyphus, you carry on.

Delusion leaves you bruised and broken.

How long til beyond repair?

Grief that holds you under water,

Surfacing only to catch a breath.

All is cold above the surface.

Depths offer warmth the sun denies.

Anguish makes my body a shell.

From within I watch your demise.

Armament lives in thought and words

That my flesh cowers away from wielding.
