anyway

Tristan Robert Lange

there’s nothing like a cry
on a day to celebrate.

why?

because it kills the lie
creeping up inside
that anyone
ever celebrates

with me

anyway.

    Powerful work. Vivid and sharp.

    • Tristan Robert Lange

Thomas, thank you...that means a lot. This one was short, but it had teeth, so I’m glad it came through. My apologies for the delay...been a crazy week. Thanks again. πŸ₯€πŸ–€πŸ˜’πŸ™

      It hits hard my friend

Norman, thank you...that means a lot. My apologies for the delay...been a crazy week. This one may be short, but yeah, it hits from a pretty real place. πŸ₯€πŸ–€πŸ˜’πŸ™

Good write T. Mondays are looking dark. Doh!

          • Tristan Robert Lange

Orchi, thank you...my apologies for the delay, been a crazy week. Mondays are apparently auditioning for a permanent role in a gothic soap opera. And we knows who will be attending. Who? WCAT! Of course! 🀣πŸ₯€πŸ–€πŸ˜’πŸ™

The beginning word cry escalates the emotion of this piece and depending on how you read it means there is at least one that cheers one on or alone and the cheer comes only from oneself. Or it is a tearful cry that one is alone. Sad it seems.

            • Tristan Robert Lange

Soren, thank you...my apologies for the delay, been a crazy week. Yes, sad is definitely fair here. This one sits right in that lonely little split between being cheered on and having to be the only one doing the cheering. πŸ₯€πŸ–€πŸ˜’πŸ™

You are always welcome my friend sometimes we are the only voice we can hear.

Aww. Welcome to reality. [Frankly, methinks I still prefer the oldie: https://youtu.be/yXoiRi6RP_k?is=b9zYen0utldPcbSV] You now make me wonder whether that is simply the predicament of--? I dunno. Beautifully rendered with a winsome poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Missy, thank you for the kind words. My apologies for the delay...been a crazy week. And yes, β€œIt’s My Party” absolutely belongs in this room. I may have to answer with β€œHappy House” though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amR6-neQBPE. One day God is going to give this whole world the "welcome to reality" check it deserves. πŸ˜‰ Thanks again! πŸ₯€πŸ–€πŸ˜’πŸ™

                          Hello, Tristan,

When celebrated, lionized even, if one suffers from a lack of self confidence no applause can totally be accepted, there must be some mistake, some lie, white or otherwise creeping about. An intriguing passage, cleverly composed with your own stamp of uniqueness. Well done indeed.

                          Wishing you much happiness,

                          Tony.

                          • Tristan Robert Lange

Tony, thank you so much. My apologies for the delay...been a crazy week. You touched an important part of this one. Sometimes the inner voice already suspects the worst, but when the people around you seem to confirm it through absence or indifference, that hurt becomes much harder to argue with. I deeply appreciate your thoughtful reading and kind words. Wishing you happiness as well. πŸ₯€πŸ–€πŸ˜’πŸ™

Self-doubt? Anyways, if it's true no one ever celebrates with "you," doesn't that also mean that no one ever truly celebrates with anyone ?!

                            • Tristan Robert Lange

Mutley, thank you. My apologies for the delay...been a crazy week. I think self-doubt is certainly in the room, but so is lived experience. Sometimes the inner ache is not invented out of nowhere. Sometimes it has been trained by who showed up, who did not, and what that absence taught the heart to expect. πŸ₯€πŸ–€πŸ˜’πŸ™

                              • Mutley Ravishes

I totally agree, Tristan. I came to the knowledge that the self-doubt that has "plagued" me for so long has been handed down the family generations. However, how is it that I find myself born into this family with this "situation"? That opens up another whole can of worms, doesn`t it?!

Much like the anticlimax and the antihero, the anti-celebration! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈ

Rik, thank you. My apologies for the delay...been a crazy week. The anti-celebration feels exactly right here: the moment that should lift the heart instead turns around and exposes what has been missing from the room. πŸ₯€πŸ–€πŸ˜’πŸ™

It comes straight from the heart and that is where it touches the reader too. πŸ‘great πŸ€—
