Up in smoke and gone to shit

sorenbarrett

Kobe Matsusaka Wagyu steak, at a thousand dollars a pound
Spanish peas and hop shoots on the plate, in a decorated mound
Nineteen forty five Romanee-conti wine, three million one hundred thousand a bottle
Cognac Henry IV Dudognon Heritage, at two million, woven silver serves as its wattle
Gurkha Royal Courtesan cigar, wrapper made of twenty four kart gold
and its cigar band, to not dirty the hand, five kart diamonds does hold
A million three hundred thousand a stick not a bad dinner and smoke for a rich prick
Teeth cleaned with a gold toothpick, a rich man's trick
A fortune in bowels encased, called a matter of refined taste
Shit in a bloated waist, while poor are starving, humanity disgraced

A wonderful piece of the injustice of life while the multitudes starve, and a fav my friend

    • sorenbarrett

Thank you Norman for the review and comment. Yes that is the imbalance of life and nature. Fat greedy and unable to share

        Hello, Soren,

'Let them eat cake', as it were - rich pricks indeed, inhabiting the grand gated compunds of greed, selfishness, arrogance and vulgarity. The money they spend on frivolous and ostentatious materialism is unbelievable and downright disgusting. A powerful poem, wealth in all its ugliness. Very well expressed, my friend.

Wishing you all the very best,

        Tony.

        • sorenbarrett

Thank you Tony for the support, read and comment it is as always most appreciated. Born in middleclass and with a very conservative family I have found myself growing more liberal and anticapitalist over the years. Not a communist but a political atheist and sanyasi at heart.

When we live happily off simple fare why would we hanker for luxury versions that only waste our ever dwindling resources. That’s quite a medieval backslide that never left humanity. Good stuff here my friend. 👍🏻🙏🏻🕊️

          • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much Cryptic I appreciate the read and it seems that greed is man's great flaw. Liberating myself of possessions has freed me in my old age.

            • arqios

Greed and pride in almost equal doses it seems.

Why do people hate the rich, but in reality want to be them.
I myself always make a point of never being a pall bearer for the rich.
Not out of hate or envy.
Mainly because they weigh too much.

              • sorenbarrett

Thank you Paul I too was in that group of wanting to be one but after acquiring found it burdensome and let go. After all we own nothing just rent it from the government at a heavy cost. Appreciate the read my friend

Fantastic work. There’s a damn savage satire here, because the absurd prices keep escalating until luxury becomes almost grotesque, with gold, diamonds, ancient wine, and million-dollar indulgence piled onto a single dinner. The final “Shit in a bloated waist” is the keeper for me, because it strips away all the precious packaging and reduces the entire fortune to what it ultimately becomes, making the contrast with people starving brutally hard to ignore.

                • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much Thomas yes so true. I love a cigar from time to time between my pipes and am astounded at the price. I once smoked a sixty dollar cigar and all I could think between puffs was money burning. It was good but was it worth it no. I have had expensive wine and after wondered what else I could have bought with that money. It all goes to the same place and so glad you got that my friend.

Why, yes, KP insists on all these things to eat, but she only gets sewage! lol.
Shouldn't speak ill of the dead, but a retired eccentric priest kicked the bucket at a 7-course meal celebration for his birthday. We mustn't insult pigs either, by saying 'the greedy pig'.

                  • sorenbarrett

Thanks Orchi for the read and comment. So sorry that KP does not get any of those but I have to say I haven't had them either. If I did I would probably sell them instead of eat or smoke them. I could use a few of those diamonds from that cigar band.

The thing that gets my Goat- In fact I've ran out of Goats- is People who spend Thousands on a Watch. You just want the Time for Heavens sake. You can get that on a Reasonably Priced Watch. And the things the overpaid Footballers waste their money on beggars belief. And it's US that the Charities on TV keep asking for Donations. A good Write as always. Now I'm off to get another Goat.

                    • sorenbarrett

Thanks Kevin for the review yes I used to wear watches but now with cell phones glued to people's hands there is no need for them and they are going out of style. Donations, don't get me started on that one where ninety percent goes to the overhead and corporate salaries.

                      • Kevin Hulme

                        That's True.

Enjoy your meal gentlemen ! - oh ministers of integrity ,
virtuous advisors , - this how you serve, varlets ,who plunder the house !

Very good my friend thanks for the read and quote it seems to apply. I like the word varlets not used enough now days

So as a long term dedicated vegetarian to me you were offside from the first line. And as I struggled down the page with products I know absolutely nothing about and am blessed with that ignorance it was only your final burst which revealed the tenor of your argument, Soren. Good for you.
PS: On this issue, it is the art market which also gives me a case of the screaming hab dabs…

                          • sorenbarrett

Thanks Dave I appreciate the read and comment as always. Yes art is a strange market indeed where prices soar and it is used as an investment where profits in art can achieve soaring profits, it works for laundering money and as a tax shelter for those that establish a personal museum and donate the work, write it off and keep it. I also am astounded at the price of transportation. Was looking at cars last week, the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta costs approximately $17.5–$17.6 million USD, but does look cool, a bargain compared to the Rolls‑Royce La Rose Noire Droptail is priced between $30 million and $32 million. Even a common family car can cost $40,000.00 the price of my parents first house.

Damn, Soren. Imagine spending millions of dollars on things destined for your stomach, lungs, and toilet and somehow calling that refinement. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

                            • sorenbarrett

Thanks so much Tristan you capture the meaning here where people spend millions for a wall hanging and watch other starve. Your read is always most appreciated my friend.

People who can afford wagyu steak probably don't even taste it! Like the rain we can watch it or we can dance in it. 🌹

Thanks so much my friend for the review and comment yes I would agree we all grow accustomed to our daily ritual and pay it little attention.

                                  Yeah...and now we have a trillionair...and others follow suit...cornflakes sparkle..life's a marvel..
