sorenbarrett

A spider in its woven trap, eyes alert its prey to map, does not see
The heron's foot that soon will crush, its body in the rush to catch a fish before it does flee
The heron approaching near, does not see or hear the stealthy stalking jungle cat
The feline unaware, being in the upwind air, of the hunter's gun raised to where he's at
Hunter fixed upon his sight soon will feel the bite, from behind by a hunting crocodile
A vulture circling round, high above the death strewn ground, can only muse and smile

    Natures way of things

Brings me back to those cartoons and videos of the ever enlarging size of predators in the predation ladder. And of course the old woman who swallowed a fly.

    • sorenbarrett

Thanks Cryptic Ah yes the old woman may have been unconsciously there. I appreciate the review my friend. At every level a victim and a predator a hero and a villain.

Perhaps a knave in distress and a damsel in shimmering raiment. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

It's a jungle out there you better be aware or you'll end up a dead bear.
Mind you, the jungles probably safer than going into the supermarket now.
                Definitely a killing zone.

                • sorenbarrett

Thanks Paul for the review and comment we are all part of the food chain it is just a matter of where.

                  Hello, Soren,

The fittest, the quietest, the cunningest and the stupidity of man forgetting to look over his shoulder - the leftovers for the vultures to clean up the mess, as if nothing ever happened. The nature of things in another great poem of yours. Bravo!

                  Fond regards,

                  Tony.

The Vulture seems to be above all what is going on. Literally as well as Safe from harm.
It can only Smile at the death on the ground.
But he'll get his as well.
                    Enjoyed.

                    • sorenbarrett

Thanks Kevin for the comment yes I thought that maybe the spider would survive and bite the vulture

Yes, we have nature's 'food chains', but man comes along and messes it up. Typical, we say! There's many doing conservation, animal rescue, etc, as well though.

                        • sorenbarrett

Thanks Orchi for the read and comment. Yes the question is where do we fit in this food chain, many say at the top but what of the virus' and bacteria that feed on us.

Soren, apparently everyone was so busy hunting dinner that nobody checked who was behind them. ๐Ÿ˜‚ The vulture definitely wins this round. ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ›

Thanks so much for your review my friend yes things look different on all levels but might be seen most clearly from above but even the vulture may not have the last say when it descends to the ground.

The punches we don't see coming cause the most damage.
