The band was on the stage,
There in front was a piano.
The band played an introduction
And the leader announced,
Announced the pianist.
Onto the stage he came,
Sat at the piano and played.
Played with such speed
And such rhythm
That drew me into his music.
My feet were tapping,
My head was nodding,
And my hands clapping
As the rock and roll was played.
He played with enthusiasm
Bringing the music to life
And into my world.
He told tales,
Tales of his life,
His life in music,
How he got to where he was .
Such a brilliant performer
That had the audience enthralled,
Enthralled at his music
And laughing at his jokes.
Such a wonderful evening was had,
Had by us all.
He mentioned that I had written a poem,
Written a poem for someone else
And said maybe I would write him one,
So Tom Seals here it is,
It may not be good,
But you asked for it.

Always welcome Andy
And he does that with just two hands; has a voice too.
I do hope he liked your poem, Andy.
Much appreciated Dave.

A fine write Gold.
Thanks Orchi.
I rather like this poem. It has something that is sometimes missing in more formally constructed poetry: genuine affection, spontaneity, and a sense of occasion. It feels like someone recounting an evening that left a lasting impression, and then turning that experience into a personal tribute. Thank you for sharing it.
Your words are so kind rr, much appreciated.
Andy
Love it when the arts intermingle! Good one, Andy 👍🏻🕊️
