Narcissist's Playbook

Shaunmatthewcpoetry

Stage 1 - Lovebomb

Imagine thinking that you've met the partner of your dreams,

Low and behold, nothing is truly ever what it really seems.

Texts and calls to make your heart feel full and loved,

Figuring out the lies because real intentions were gloved.

Stage 2 - Isolate

They burrow their way into your life using deception and false emotion,

Nothing is ever simple, who's getting off on the commotion?

Slowly taking you away from your family and friends,

Becoming dependable on the narcissist, only one way this ends.

Stage 3 - Devalue

Being devalued is devastating when there's no clear escape,

How much pummeling to the gut can one person really take?

Rushing around the house, cleaning up and still not appreciated,

Empathy is not on the cards, a distinct type of hatred.

Stage 4 - Discard

Thrown away and discarded, like some shit under a shoe,

Years wasted together, an utter shame what victims go through.

If these stages look familiar, running for the hills might not be that simple,

Evil personalities thrive, good suffer in silence, looking for a miracle.

A nice set of rhymes in this poem of being fooled and devolving into a relationship nightmare. A lesson learned remember shit on a shoe carries an odor with it. Well done.

Damn, Shaun! This is a difficult subject, and sadly, one that far too many people know firsthand. Nobody deserves to be treated like that, especially by someone they trust. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️
