Pussy

sorenbarrett

A cat squalls in the night, from natures urge and plight she calls
She grooms her fur slick and bright, before right outside she crawls
Her course not given, by which force she's driven her brain does not know
Moon's force had striven, heart and mind riven, she put on a seductive show

A Tom nearby hears her cry, with her sleek form an invitation he can not reject
He releases a sexual storm before others her can swarm, his claws show little respect
Resisted desire lights his fire, a spark lit from which there is no escape
Too late for a young feline to draw the line, nature's romance is a rape

    A thoughtful piece my friend

Thank you Norman for the read and comment. Nature has different values than we and in it love or sex a different purpose. I appreciate your visit my friend

Good write SB. Aww, why they say to me: 'Are you singing or is that two cats fighting?' lol.

        • sorenbarrett

Thank you Orchi for the read. I was sure to mark this one +18 for Fido you never know how some people will take this.

Nature dictates the strong get the spoils, and this seems to be excepted by the females.
Though when you see two animals practically kill themselves to mate with a female, you might be thinking, that female sure has a lot of power.

          • sorenbarrett

Thanks Paul for the read and comment. Yes indeed they do and the smart ones use it to advantage never revealing that they have it. Queens have ruled behind the mask of a king letting him take the blows politically and in battle while she calls the shots. Wives as well and although they sacrifice credit for power it works well. Nature has a different set of values from man. Reproduction is the end goal not love or gentleness and chivalry seldom comes into play.

That can be a quite loud season!

Thank you Cryptic your read and comment are most appreciated. And with our partying so it is with man, loud and out of control.

Brilliant. Thereโ€™s a deliberately unsettling collision here between the language of seduction and the harsh mechanics of animal instinct, with the poem turning a familiar mating call into something much darker by confronting the difference between biological drive and genuine consent. The keeper is โ€œnature's romance is a rape,โ€ because that final line strips away the romantic language that came before it, forcing the reader to face the disturbing gap between how nature is often described and what the vulnerable creature may actually endure. One of my cats is in heat now. She dives me crazy. lol

                • sorenbarrett

Thank you Thomas you struck right to the heart of it. Nature needs no consent its goal reproduction it is man that has turned the best for the species into what is best for the individual a most selfish and arrogant view in a natural vision.

                • Friendship

Well written. The poem's language is vivid and evocative, with a clear emphasis on the physical and instinctual aspects of mating. Your phrase โ€œnature's romance is a rapeโ€ serves as a powerful metaphor for the often brutal realities of reproduction in the animal kingdom.

                  • sorenbarrett

Thank you Friendship for the review and interpretation. We have our values and nature hers and they are not always the same. What we see as brutal nature judges as the common necessary parts of life. I appreciate your comment my friend.

                    Hello, Soren,

The purring pussycat we've come to know and love, but when it comes to mating, the claws are out, there's no romance here, brutal and unforgiving. A pet that's wild at heart in another fine poem from your wonderful insight into the ways of nature.

Wishing you much happiness, my friend,

                    Tony.

                    • sorenbarrett

Thank you Tony your comments are highly anticipated my friend and most appreciated. I have had several cats and find them like many humans wild and most lusty. Today society has tried to dampen this with feminism and political correctness with the idea of rape is enough for social ostracism if not jail and a simple no in the middle of the act changes everything. Nature is ignored. A claim of rape years latter by her own husband can change a custody case.

There's times when I hear a Cat Squalling in the Night. And it's not Sounding like 'Memory' either.
This Poem could also relate- Sadly - to Human Behaviour.
                      Good Write.

                      • sorenbarrett

Thanks Kevin for your kind words of understanding. Yes you are right your smell of its relation to human behavior is correct. I have a wife and daughters so god forbid I see that side but nature is ignored in this issue as well.

                        • Kevin Hulme

                          Yes. My Pleasure as always.

Well Teddy I warned you it was +18. After all social commentary is often phonographic. Thanks for the read my friend

you didn't answer my question though? Lmao! Good to have some light-hearted chuckles

Damn, Soren! Nature can be downright brutal, can't it? Certainly not the Disney version of the animal kingdom! LOL! ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ›

                                  • sorenbarrett

Thanks Tristan for the read and comment. Disney has a rose colored filter but underneath a money green lens cover. When they did the documentary on the Lemmings they sacrificed hundreds of Lemmings driving them off a cliff providing a false image that the animals were suicidal. None of it true.
