Tune: St Francis Xavier [Series: Hymns to Saints Tunes 16]
('My God, I love thee not because') For All Souls Day: Nov 2nd.
Isaiah 25 v.6-9
**********
The Lord shall make upon His mount
A feast, a bounteous fount
Of good things, wine and food well made
A banquet there displayed
And He will in this mount destroy
What evil does employ
The face of the covering cast
O'er all people [shall] not last
And the vail spread o'er all nations
Of folk of all stations
The covering, the vail, be death
Swallowed up by His breath
It swallowed up in victory
The Lord God will act, see
Will wipe away tears from off all
Faces, death no appal
The rebuke of His people He
Will take away, so be
Accusings, condemings remove
So shall His goodness prove
For He has spoken it, will do
Will make all things anew
And we shall say, Look, our God this
Be, brings us freedom, bliss
We have waited for Him, and He
Will save us faithfully
The Lord, we will in Him be glad
Gone mourning, no more sad
