Tune: St Anne [Series: Hymns to Saints Tunes 21]
('O God our help in ages past')
John 15 v.12-17
***********
This is Jesus' command, that we
Love one another, see
Greater love has no one than this
What be it? It not miss
It is that one their life down lay
For their friends, said that day
When Jesus said too, You my friends
Be, loved unto the end
We are His friends, if we so do
What He commands, e'en you
Henceforth servants He calls us not
But friends, happy our lot
For servants know not what their lord
Does, but Jesus His word
Has spoken from the Father to
Us, His friends, even you
We have not chosen Him, but He
Has chosen us, so be
And appointed us, that we go
And bear fruit, it is so
And that our fruit, it should remain
What we ask Father plain
In Jesus' name, He shall it give
Love one another, live
