Because on an occasion
(Which I will not here relate)
I was with some other girls,
And we each were asked our names.....
We all were rather nervous,
And so when it came to mine....
This name is what I told them----
Though I never have known why!

- Comment from author about the poem: And so for the rest of the time I was with them, I was playfully known as "George".....and ever after I've liked to occasionally be called that...so penned this once to show why I felt I could be....then I tried to figure out how to have it as my pseudonym withOUT anyone thinking I had masculine inclinings....so "Chic" should solve that...after all, Samuel Clemens was Mark Twain, Henry Wheeler Shaw was Josh Billings, Mary Annes Evans was George Eliot......
