Love Our Veggies!

Cheeky Missy

V.1
Celery gather at the table
With the carrots and tomatoes
Cucumbers and cauliflower-
For it's time to eat Veg-edibles!

CHORUS:
Yes! we love to eat our veggies...
The red, and green, orange, white, yellow and purrrrple!
With or without accompaniiiiiiiment--
For we're told that they're good for our health!

V.2
Cabbage, kale, lettuce, peas, and beets,
Turnips, radishes, and lima beans,
Broccoli, brussel sprouts, and corn, green beans-
Oh boy! here come the Veg-edibles!

CHORUS

V.3
Onions, garlic, olives black and Greek,
Bell peppers green(immature)  and sweet,
Jalepeno peppers so spicy-
Where'd we be w/out Veg-edibles? !

CHORUS

V4
Eggplant, chard, and  spinich and frisee,
Arugula, endives, and mustard greens,
Artichoke, and asparagus,
Who can live without veg-edibles?

CHORUS

V5
Pumpkin, acorn squash and butternut,
Zucchini, and yeah, spaghetti squash!
Salads, steamEd, as bread, muffins, pies....
Come on! We love our veg-edibles!

CHORUS

  • Comment from author about the poem: Ah, what exactly defines "poetry"? Um, and I am a lover of rhymimg.....a criminal, now thereby, I've just learned.....this piece is an excellent example of my hobby....I like to take favourite tunes and put different lyrics (my own) to them and sing these gaily.....for this particular piece here.....if you don't know the old hymn "Shall We Gather At The River?" by Robert Lowry (c.1864) google it to hear the tune, and well also read the first line for mine is a take off of it in a very different UNreligious lighthearted strain....Oh, ya, and I sing it too, as many verses of this silly piece as I can recall, dunno why, but makes me smile. And sith 'tis totally lacking any touching depth, I shall probably be its only lover......
