The Path of Life

Josh Taylor

Living is a constant cycle of wait,
To see what will be your eventual fate.

To live your life full of love and hope,
Or to exist through misery and struggle to cope.

Is there a predestined direction we are each meant to take,
Or is life a work in progress capable of remake?

Every day is a period of transition,
To continue until tomorrow being the mission.

We reason our lives are not without purpose,
But is that just human nature’s way of avoiding feeling surplus?

Whether this theory is the case or not,
You should live your life like its being put on the spot.

The road you take could alter that of another,
And be something special for someone’s sister, mother, father or brother.

Every person is unique and one of a kind,
But everyone’s lives are inevitably intertwined.

Considering the people’s lives you can mould,
Act responsibly with the power you hold.

Remember your life could be a gift to treasure,
Or be used as a powerful weapon in equal measure.

So will you follow the path you intend,
Or find a new purpose before the end?

It is a very serious admonition and the closing couplets remind me of the verse which makes me squirm.....
I Tim 4:15-16 "Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee."
.....Since I know I should, and yet think it too much trouble to apply myself thus.
    Hmmm.
