He’s Nobody’s Everything But Everybody’s Nothing

Josh Taylor

You know that guy you saw on the street,

The one you stopped to meet and greet,

You said a quick ‘Hi’ exchanged pleasantries and then said ‘Bye’,

The one, twenty minutes later you can’t remember as hard as you try.

He’s nobody’s everything but everybody’s nothing

The guy that doesn’t ask for any dates,

But wonders if bachelorism for life is to be his fate,

He wonders what skills of his he has to hone,

To avoid spending a life alone.

He’s nobody’s everything but everybody’s nothing

Afraid of taking risks in case he fails,

Worried at the first sign of difficulty that he’d bail,

Constantly questioning if he can go the full length,

Has he really got enough inner strength?

He’s nobody’s everything but everybody’s nothing

To be forgettable and inadequate is his biggest fear,

Stressing about both makes his ability to achieve unclear,

If he can get over his issues and reach his potential is unknown,

If not, his fears could become realities and he could die alone.

 He’s nobody’s everything but everybody’s nothing

He knows he’s trapped in his own mind,

And an escape route is impossible to find,

His own worst enemy when it comes to what he most desires,

Enough opportunities have been allowed to expire.

He’s nobody’s everything but everybody’s nothing

So whether it’s about him meeting his soul-mate,

Or reaching his full potential and being the master of his own fate,

There is a chance he could fail and at times be the reject,

But if he tries at least in later life he can look back, satisfied and reflect.

He’s could be somebody’s everything. Maybe.
