War

Josh Taylor

What exactly is it that causes conflict and war?

Wounded ego’s of the rich and powerful are generally at the core

Existence is too easy and constant feuds stop life becoming a bore

Personal arguments turn to family feuds which spiral more and more

One insignificant clash will be blown out of proportion and be known as ‘the final straw’

Newly found foes and ancient adversary’s aim to bring misery to their enemies door

As a result of which, revenge is needed to somehow make the wounds less sore

Civilized discussion turns to irrational talk of retaliation and uncontrollable uproar

Soon these isolated incidents cause an inescapable cycle to come to the fore

Suffering and retribution occur so often it almost appears enshrined in law

And both sides live in fear of what they know is inevitably in store

Nothing but a continuous stream of maiming, mutilation and gore

Innocent families, friends and lovers suffer more than any human is meant to endure

Hateful propaganda makes each adversary an evil bastard or a diseased whore

There will be no winners in this game and no one keeping score

And ironically by this point the reason for the dispute, no one is really sure

In the end though, the ones who suffer the most are always the poor

50 years later, sightseers will see the scenes of horror in a holiday tour

And wonder why such trivial feuds caused such a devastating war.
