The Sea

Leonard Dabydeen

The sea

is not disobedient

to the wind

does not ask

why it is stormy

or angry

it rushes to the shore to greet you

looking for help

to subside its anger

and you stand there

bare feet buried in the sand

bolstering and stubborn

daring the sea

to take you

with open arms

wherever it wants you to be.

I like it very well! Delightful how you have thus poetically pictured the sea! Interesting the Bible says something like..."the wicked are like the troubled sea when it cannot rest, its waters casting up mire and dirt.." or something like that. Curious in contrast, isn't it?

This is a great poem. In a way i wish i was near the ocean right now jsut letting the wind blow my hair and soothe me. I like this poem because it shows how things actually are. Keep writing.!!

Thank you, Lonelyka. Vignettes of the sea and anemonies of the ocean create spasmic joy in our lives. The salted air can put you to sleep...even make you forget how to dream.
