Oldest Friends

Jennifer Teresa Nunes

A house, a car, money and clothes.
These are the things that we search for in life
But also the things that take away our sight
Without these things we learn what truly matters
here on Earth
And it's that family will always hold you when it hurts
That acceptance allows for a brand new start
And beauty comes from within your heart
That courage gives you strength to guide the soul
And laughter keeps you warm when your are cold
That each day love will shine a little more
And a decade of friendship is more than anyone can ask for

Ya, true love in friends and family are treasures above so much else we strive to attain and can possess here. It is a familiar teaching from Ben Stein, to my recollection, for I used to read his column in a magazine while in high school and that very thinking influenced my life greatly, in addition to what the Lord granted, leading to my present lifestyle for these many years. Fascinating to see you mention it.
