lonely i feel

aladrond

Lonely I feel. I’ll never be the same.  Everybody will stay the same.  I won’t. I’ve seen things that shouldn’t be. So much blood and death. Let’s go, I say, there is nothing left. We go again, leaving behind the dead. Found another, broken and shattered.  The cure will be found.

The end is near, they said, it will come. It came and went, we are still here. Kill and live is the answer. They come, I kill. Found some others, lost most. Not me, I began my survival and will see it to the end. There is hope, but far away. Have to get there, can’t be far. We can’t keep it up. But it will be there, I hope.

Another came and went. We’re getting closer to the end. Two more nights, that’s it. And only five left. I’m first and the oldest. The others are those that barely survived. I raised them and taught them. They are my family. I hope they make it.

Only one left, tomorrow it’s there. We see the fort at night, and spirits are raised. I feel relief, but something is wrong. Tomorrow we’ll see. It’s done.

As we neared, the quiet came. Ever vigilant, we kept close and ready. At the door, we knocked and entered. We were cleaned and informed. The end is near, few are left. Something is wrong, I tell them, we must leave. My family believes me. We leave. The closer we stay, the danger is stronger. The more we see, the more we know. More join us, they feel it to.

Found a safe place, we will sleep soundly tonight. Our number’s doubled more awareness. I consult with the others, the small one cries out. A sound breaks out. Music, I have longed for it. A radio burst breaks through; the fort is under the attack. The dead increase, we were right.

We fight again, but don’t lose hope. We believe in ourselves, not in them. We live, they die. It won’t end, not soon. Together we belong.

Very fascinating and intriguing story. Concluding with "Together we belong" and your numbers doubling, feeling lonely, as the title says, seems odd, and yet not...you are heading it up and all look to you so you are alone in that role of leader. Very interesting.
