When "curiosity killed the cat"
The mockingbird mewed after that.
An excellent job he did of it too...
We got him a cage and fed him birdfood.
He was so much easier to keep than the cat....
But the mice ran wild after that!

- Comment from author about the poem: Everyone knows mockingbirds can string together a number of bird calls into a delightfully unique melody all their own. Well, for several years we heard one that mewed beautifully like a kitten. So I imagined this.....
