Demons and Angels of Us

jazmine zillmer

 To cry

And smile

However blissfully

Tears

 And happiness

Is a blessing

 Don’t you see?

To see the sadness

 But smile

 And fight,

be a fighter for all your worth!

Your soul is calling,

even if to be free.

 So be happy.

 Be sad

there are times to do both

 Cry,

but smile through your tears.

Because this is just a game

A game the angels call life.

Well, actually, seeing your title included the demons, I think the conclusion would be more correct if your concluding line rather read...."A game the devils call "life." Afterall, the Lord Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and the Life of all the people He saves; while all the rest of mankind remains dead in their sins....so that what is this vain life we lead....can it truly be defined as life? And if our souls are calling to be freed, only He can make us free, as He says. This is an interesting, obviously thought-provoking piece. I enjoyed it. Another suggestion, after the two-word line "Be sad" are you missing an "are" in the next line...ie "there [are] times to do both"?

thanks! i would've missed that.... it is missing an "are". i haven't edited it yet so there is a chance it will change.... At first i had put "war" instead of "life", because trying to be happy all the time or trying to be sad all the time would be hard going.

Hmmm. That is interesting to consider....maybe instead of calling it "... a game call[ed] war..." as you are suggesting, you rather replace "game" with "war" as, "a war...call life", you know? And being either perpetually happy or sad, I did not consider that to be your message, but rather that we face both continually, and not to be buried in the sorrow for the happiness will be inevitably marred by it. As to editing, for all the editing I think I do, I still go back and edit more, half the time.
