The greatest blessing for a woman is to be a mother
Like a tree grew up from the earth
A child comes out from the womb of a mother
Only a woman can give all of us birth
Mother is as patient as our holy hand
Who bears with all impurities of humans
But remains pure and cool with her loving hand
She is beautiful in all seasons
Mother may be young, middle aged or old
But her heart is really made of gold
Without earth there is no nature
Without mother nor is any human future
A child may go away from mother’s breast
As a tree’s roots are entrenched in earth’s crest
His/her leanings are in mother’s hearty grace
That is the beauty of human race

Nice little plant in the hand
Now, for all the times I've heard the odious term "mother earth"...you finally made it seem to make sense. Very fascinating delineation of sorts. Thank you. While I still abhor the devilish term and idea, now it makes a little sense.
Dear Cheeky, Why do you consider mother earth odious and devilish. We Indians adore earth like mother.Howevever, Thanks for your comments and ratings
yours JVL
The earth itself is neither odious nor devilish nor abhorrent, it is another of the Lord's many creations, from which in fact, He fashioned man and so much of His creation. But it is NOT our mother because of that, and the elevating it to that position is what I find so atrocious and horrifying, since it runs contrary to the Word of God. Did that make my position understandable? Thanks for being so understanding.
Dear Cheeky I agree to disagree with you because of our religious beliefs. But both of us love mother, may not be earth as mother like you.Don't you love your motherland?
yours JVL
I see how you can view it that way from how it is in truth and how your poem presented it, yet we do disagree....the Lord speaks of the mother of the enslaved, the mother of the abominable, and the mother of the free...the earth is none of these. No, I like and dislike, am perhaps proud and definitely ashamed of this country I was born in and fit citizen of, yet I would rather be a citizen of the heavenly city God has prepared for those who love Him; if He mercifully/graciously wills, I shall yet be.
DEAR cheeky, You are a more spiritual person than me.You can't move an inch beyond Jesus and the Bible.I do agree that this mundane world is an illusion. In that sense you are speaking the truth. As Hindu I consider the land of my birth Mother.Infact, both are not permanant.Only God(jesus)is eternal.
yours lovingly,
JVL
Thanks for being so kind and understanding in discussing it all graciously with me. If only the Lord would save us both and all...He alone is able.
Thankyou so much for sharing this poem.
It is so graceful and true to me.
Thank you Mr Rao for your tremendous generosity. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read your dedication. It's a really moving gift. I do like the term Mother Earth. It's a great symbol of how much life takes place on our planet. You chose a very nice simile.
It's the very best gift you could have ever given me, my friend!
Pregnancy and later motherhood are the celebration of a miracle. Being happy and grateful are great ways to pamper myself and my child.
Many thanks again!!!
PS I'm still struggling to write blogs and even post comments. I feel so drowsy most of the time! I hope you understand your poem is beautiful. What I value the best is that you thought about us! Cheers!
Dear Georgina, I know you have joined the site for me.I think real happiness lies in making others.I hope you will be blessed with a child of your choice.I really appreciate your love for motherhood.Even in a culturally famous country like India young women are scared of motherhood.I really wrote the poem for you.Take rest and be happy in the care of your loving husband. My regards to him and my best wishes to your endearing son
yours lovingly,
