The Gift of Love

The Gift of Love
-by MVB

An ancient story once foretold us
When gods eternal gave us love
They hid it in the stars above us
So no one found it far above.

But soon the humans started reaching
With flying wonders parting clouds
And worried gods took love from heavens
And hid it deep inside our hearts.

Since then we searched it everywhere
The highest stars and deepest chasms
The bluest oceans we ensnared
But love eludes us like phantasms.
[...]
I found their secret hiding place
And came to tell you of their wonder
That love has spread its wings inside me
And screams to you in sweet surrender.

Don’t let the gods retake it further
To hide it where it cannot grow
And give your heart a chance to open
To see love calling in return.

Delightfully romantic call to your lady-love! I quite enjoyed it. You crafted it fascinatingly with the imaginative story...leading into the expression of your interest...very sweetly done...would she might not reject it. It seems a piece suitable for many a lover and you've written it beautifully. The title is so perfect...for indeed, love is truly a gift...Excellent!
