I Remember

Emi

I remember the childhood aches

From bicycles swerving, falling

Bee stings and dog bites

 Scraped knees and hands

I remember the childhood wonders

Why does the nighttime come?

Why do the clouds cover the sun?

Why do nightmares ever haunt?

I remember the childhood lessons

Look both ways before crossing the street

Don’t touch the burning hot stove

And always do as you are told

I remember the childhood stories

As the prince rode off with his princess

Towards the gleaming castle far away

Always living happily ever after

I remember the childhood days

And I wish to go back

    So true!!

  • Anna

Wow! I always think about the days when I was younger than I am now. I remember how I first learned to ride my bike (ouch) I remember how I asked my mom to wait five minutes, and was surprised how fast it ended, and I still remember singing for my class, and doing the monkey bars.... oh, I wish I could go back.... this poem is so so true 🙂

Haha yeah... Everything was so fun back then, and all our problems then would seem trivial now. 🙂
