Falling Freely

Emi

I want to fall like the rain falls

Free and without care of destination

Whether it be the hard pavement

Or a blanket of dew-covered grass

I want to shine like the sun shines

Ceaselessly and without failure

Bringing warmth and happiness

To all who are to behold its light

I want to sing like the birds sing

Not worrying at all about being heard

Neither about the current time of day

Or about what anyone thinks of them

I want to fly like the clouds fly

Just gracefully soaring above the world

Above all of the artificiality and cities

Letting the rain fall down freely

Upon the hard pavement

Or a blanket of dew-covered grass

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is a really different poem for me, for a couple reasons. 1) It's free-verse, and 2) it's not depressing and/or about love! :) So, since I haven't written anything in a while anyway, I figure I'd try something new.
